Hudl Sportscode Countdown: Match Day Live Sharing and Setups

The third blog in this series from Product Manager Paul Arnott takes an in-depth look at the improvements coming to the match day experience.
As I mentioned previously in this series, you can now easily record multiple angles on a single computer with Hudl Sportscode.
This makes for a much better experience for analysts on match day. It takes less time to set up and pack up equipment, and you'll either save money on hardware or free up computers for other purposes (like recording a backup copy or sharing video to other analysts).
It also means coaches and analysts can review video and do their own analysis immediately after the match because you’ll have a complete multi-angle package with video and data already aligned.
For teams with multiple staff analysing video on match day, Hudl Sportscode has a new simple workflow for sharing video and data between devices. Say goodbye to timeline shares, mirror codes and live stacking.
Instead, Hudl Sportscode writes a local copy of the video on the viewing computers. This means you get better playback performance than with timeline share in Version 11, and end up with a full copy of the video package post-game.
Try it for single or multi-angle video. From the viewing computer, choose to import either one, several or all of the angles from each of multiple capturing computers, then select which timelines you want to import live.
If needed, the viewing computers can even be disconnected from the network. Say it’s half-time and you want to take a viewing computer to a team meeting for a presentation (because the video is stored on that computer). Go ahead!
When you’re finished, reconnect to the network for the second half. The timeline will quickly update itself with any video you missed during the break, without the video and data alignment skipping a beat.
Have multiple people coding during a game? It’s simple to share video and data with each other in Hudl Sportscode. You simply start capturing on two (or more) computers, then live edit each package to connect to video and data streams on other computers. You and any other analyst will be able to see all the video angles in a stack, plus all the data streams on the timeline.
We made sure the sharing speed would be fast. It only takes 6-8 seconds for video to reach the viewing computer, and 4-6 seconds for data. That’s a lot quicker than in Version 11 (which can take up to 30 seconds).
If a coach needs to make a quick decision, they can depend on seeing the video because it’ll now be available much faster. If you require an even quicker response, you can always capture the video on multiple computers to see the video almost instantly.
Whether you’re a football analyst sharing video to the sideline, a rugby or AFL analyst sharing to a coach in the box, or a basketball video coordinator who needs to get the video courtside, Hudl Sportscode has a smoother, more seamless process. The video and data will flow quicker—a key component in any analyst’s workflow, no matter the sport.
