Hudl Pro Suite Key Updates

Hudl League Exchange

Download Video Packages

If you are familiar with the Hudl Pro Suite, you will know that you have the ability to access both video and data in your Hudl team library directly linked from Hudl Sportscode. In the coming months, this option will also be available for your League Exchange, streamlining your analysis workflow and improving speed to access all-important League Exchange video and data. And for leagues with multiple angles of video available, you will be able to see all angles right away in Hudl Sportscode.

Start Analysis While Video is Downloading

As for video in your timeline, this means that you will now be able to start work on analysing video from League Exchange as it downloads, making the analysis process much faster. Coding, labeling and creating playlists will be possible as the video continues to download. Timeline data for the whole game is downloaded first, so the Matrix and Output Reports will immediately update to show the statistics for the whole game.

Access Multiple Leagues

If you have access to multiple leagues, you can access all of them from within Hudl Sportscode. Once you've selected a league, you will see the fixtures for whichever competition that you've selected, making the match selection process much easier and faster.

In the future, our plan is to leverage our large global database of video and data that we have both with our Wyscout platform and with our Hudl.com platform, for you to access leagues from all around the world from within the interface in Hudl Sportscode.

Wyscout - Sportscode XMLs

This new feature in Wyscout is the first step in our integration between Wyscout, Sportscode and Hudl. You will now be able to download an advanced Sportscode XML directly from Wyscout, with the ability to configure how it appears in your timeline, streamlining your analysis process across your suite of products.

Download Hudl Sportscode XMLs directly from Wyscout

When you export XML data from Wyscout, you select a series of parameters that control the content and formatting of the data. This includes the choice of player-based data or team-based data, control over how player and team names are formatted, instance lead and lag time, and more.

Hudl.com - @ mentions

Hudl users can now tag an athlete or any team member or any group of team members when they're adding a comment. You can select from the filtered list of individual team members or any identified group to submit a comment which automatically notifies anyone tagged and adds the clip to that person/team’s library.

This new feature allows you to dramatically improve the communication between departments, increasing the player engagement with the coaches’ feedback and keeping all the communication within the same platform.

Check out this simple tutorial to learn how to do it.

Visualizations

Hudl Sportscode - Charts (Coming Soon)

We've now made data visualization in Hudl Sportscode much simpler by adding a new element to the code window called a ‘chart’. Charts can be configured via a dropdown menu in the Inspector to either be a bar chart, a column chart, a stacked version of the bar or column chart, or a pie chart.

Just like action buttons, charts are linked to video. You can configure them so that when you click on a section of the chart, it launches a video player with the video corresponding to that data point.

These basic charts are just the tip of the iceberg for some of the visualizations that we're working on. We think all of these visualizations are going to change the way that you analyze data during a game and the way that you use Hudl Sportscode. So keep an eye out for future updates.

Analysis

Hudl Sportscode - Data Source Selector

The Find Window and Output Window are two powerful components in Hudl Sportscode which allow you to analyse video and data. Until recently, these features were restricted to operating on a single open timeline, which meant your analysis was effectively restricted to a single match. Both the Find Window and Output Window now have a "custom selection" option, which allows them to operate on a selected set of data.

In the Find Window, this means you can now search:

  • In all timelines in a specified folder, or
  • In any selected set of timelines or video packages, either in one or multiple folders.

You can do the same in the Output Window. If you switch to report mode, you now get the Data Source Selector in the toolbar allowing you to select multiple video packages, as well as individual timelines within those video packages.

Data Source Selection also works with the Chart Visualization feature highlighted above, allow you to generate a chart and visualize data in that chart across multiple games, significantly improving the quality of your analysis and allowing you to spend less time building databases and combining timelines, and more time doing searches and reporting across multiple games.

Live

Live Data Import

Hudl Sportscode now supports importing event data from third parties on match day. This allows analysts to focus more on actual analysis, as well as coding more bespoke data that is important to your game plan or style of play.

Prior to the start of the match, you select a match from the fixture. When the match starts, instances start appearing in the timeline. These processes work over the internet, so you can import these data from anywhere with an internet connection, provided you have access to the video feed.

Hudl Sportscode now supports importing event data from third parties on match day

We are working with data providers across various sports to integrate their data with Hudl Sportscode. We've started with DFL data from Sportec for the Bundesliga, and are now moving on to Opta data for football, so teams that subscribe to Opta Data from Stats Perform will be able to import this data live.

Keep an eye out for even more announcements around this in the coming months as we collaborate with more data providers.

Hudl Replay - Latency (coming soon)

Latency refers to the amount of time it takes for video and data to get from the computer capturing in Hudl Sportscode to Hudl Replay. Recent modifications have reduced latency to around 5-8 seconds - depending on the data rate of your video and the number of camera angles you might be using - making your live-analysis workflow even faster when working with Hudl Sportscode and Hudl Replay.

Hudl Replay - Coach Tagging (coming soon)

We’re adding functionality to allow coaches to code instances in Hudl Replay. These instances are available for viewing in Replay, and also seamlessly shared back to Hudl Sportscode.

This means that Coaches can use these instances for immediate feedback to athletes in Replay, and also use them in team presentations from Hudl Sportscode at half time or after the game.

Hudl Replay - Live Reports (coming soon)

We're adding Live Reports to Hudl Replay. They will work similarly to Output Reports and Visualizations in Hudl Sportscode, in that analysts will be able to design custom reports in Sportscode, and coaches will be able to view these reports live in Replay during a match. Just like in Sportscode, these reports are linked to video, maintaining a familiar workflow but further increasing access to key information to support and inform decision-making.

Playlist

Over the last 12 months, we have worked hard to improve playlists, and they now support most of the features that users valued in version 11 of Sportscode, along with some brand new ones to further increase efficiencies.

Send Clips to Database

You can now send clips in a playlist to a database. Select the clips in your sorter or organizer, click the database button that's in the toolbar at the top of the playlist, and select which database you want to send it to. This allows you to keep a repository of presentations throughout a season, for easy access at a later date.

Proportional Instance Text

Instance text now scales proportionally to the dimensions of your monitor or TV. When using high-resolution monitors, the text now appears in an appropriate size for the monitor or TV that you're using to present.

Split Clips

You can now split clips into two separate clips.

Original Row Name and Instance Number in Sorters

You can now see the original timeline, row name and instance number of clips in the sorter. This could be really useful to give you some context of where the clip came from and what part of the game it came from in the timeline.

Sorter Slide Name

You can now edit the name of a slide in a sorter to provide some context about what is actually appearing on a slide.
