ACPE Takes Performance Analysis Education to Next Level with Sportscode and Hudl

Based in the heart of the iconic Olympic Park in Sydney, the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE) is the country’s leading provider of innovative career education in sport, physical activity and health.

For the last century ACPE has provided specialist education to the next generation of sports professionals. Through the Bachelor of Sports Coaching qualification, Sportscode and Hudl now play a major role in the development of Australia’s best athletes, coaches and analysts.

This highly acclaimed qualification is a unique and holistic course where students learn about various aspects of sports. It looks specifically at coaching pedagogy, methods, techniques and strength and conditioning.

Jay Ellis, academic lecturer at ACPE, heads up the course and believes it’s vital for students to be given access to Sportscode and Hudl because the products are now seen as the industry standard across sports in Australia.

“Something that really sets us apart is we hone in on specific aspects, things that are being done now that are relevant and our students can learn, and they can go out into the industry now to get this experience, like our performance and tactical analysis,” said Ellis.

"We’re partnered with Sportscode and Hudl. It’s an amazing product for our coaches to learn and a potential job opportunity that students can take away from here.”

“We have a wonderful setup at ACPE. We’re partnered with Sportscode and Hudl. It’s an amazing product for our coaches to learn and a potential job opportunity that students can take away from here.”

As performance analysis has grown throughout the world, Ellis has helped oversee the increase within the course to help produce better analysts who are equipped to work in the industry.

“I believe that ACPE is a state-of-the-art facility, probably one of the best,” said Ellis. “We provide our coaches with as much technology and equipment as possible. Our students are not only running sessions themselves, be it in the gym or at Sydney Olympic Park. We’re also using our live capture which enables us to video everything we do to bring it back to the classroom and analyse it and to really look at what we are doing as coaches to better ourselves.

“This course is able to provide many opportunities, whether it’s through a director of coaching role, youth or professional sport. Our coaching units and talent ID, coaching techniques and pedagogy enable athletes and students to be able to move into tactical and performance analysis and these unique areas that set them up as support staff within professional sport.”
